Activity / Context / Project:
Setting-to-work, Testing, Commissioning, Integration and Final Acceptance of the On Board System (OBS) of Dubai Metro Project. The OBS is an integrated system providing services in order to guarantee trains with all the on board communication needs; provided functionalities are according to following main sub-systems:
- On Board Control Unit (OBCU) - Eurotech, diagnostic and alarm reports / management
- Closed Circuit television camera (Inova) + servers, collection and recording of video images
- Public Address System (PAS) - Trantek, audio broadcast of the service information voice messages
- Public Information System (PIS) - Trantek, visual broadcast of the service information text messages
- VBS video broadcast of entertainment and advertisement
- Emergency Call Boxes (ECBs) - Trantek, bi-directional conversations between onboard passengers and metro operators
- Narrow Band Radio (NBR) - Tetra Nokia, communication support for voice and short data messages
- Broad Band Radio (BBR), communication support for high throughput data
- Integrated Communication Console (ICC) - Alfio, integrated interface for all voice communication needs
- LAN Ethernet interconnection between all IP devices
- PSS (Power Supply System) DC/DC conversion between train 110VDC and voltage needed by any device.
Scope of work:
Setting-to-work, tuning and stand-alone tests on board (OBCU and the other equipments)
OBS integration and commissioning (SIT) and with the metro control center (E2ET);
Technical coordination and support to the technical responsible of all interfacing COM OBS subsystems; such as:
- Rescue Link is provided on both OBCUs in order to guarantee some basic functionality between two coupled trains.
- Management link is between OBS equipment and ground management workstation, via BBR connection.
- VBS link is implemented for ground-to-train video contents download. It is between onboard VBSserver and ground VBS workstation and VBS server, through BBR
- this except the interfaces with other systems(OCS link, TCMS link, VOBC link)
- Coordination/reporting with other contractors and the customers for the progress of the work.
Job Environment:
The OBS Tester will be part of the T&C Team in Dubai. Within the Testing Team a Test Leader or "tester in charge" will be designated in order to lead the specific test activity.
Reporting to the T&C Manager and/or to the OBS T&C coordinator(s).
Close coordination with the OBS Lead Engineer and the OBS field coordinator.
On Board integration work for implementation of the commissioning, integration testing and acceptance of the OBS subsystems.
Mission:
- Implement the OBS commissioning strategy prepared by the OBS Lead Engineer and by the T&C Manager;
- Coordinate with to verify the availability of the technical and dedicated cars before the actual OBS testing and integration work can start;
- Perform on board the following activities:
- Installation inspection/check-out;
- initial tuning and setting-to-work;
- Stand-alone tests (SAT);
- Site integration tests (SIT);
- End-to-end tests (E2ET), integration with the Operation Control Centre:
- Integration and interface tests with other subsystems;
- Final acceptance;
- Monitor, control and report the progress through regular site progress reports;
- Monitor, control and supervise daily the subcontractor supplier of OBS, reporting to the T&C Manager;
- Support the overall integration activities;
- Report daily to the OBS subsystems coordinator;
- Participate to technical and/or progress meeting with the Customer and/or the other parties of the T&C team (as needed).
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of the integrated system composed from the above mentioned subsystems
- Ability to manage the integration on a wide scale, knowing that each train is composed of 5 cars that will be integrated with the OCC and that each car has different numbers of subsystems.
- Sense of organization;
- Accustomed to site work;
- Understanding of on board subsystems;
- Experience of commissioning and integration procedures;
- Experience in the commissioning and acceptance of Transmission Systems;
- Experience in site integration with other systems;
