Minimum Qualifications:
§ University graduate in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum Experience:
§ 5 - 7 years’ relevant heavy industrial electrical operational/maintenance experience.
§ 2 - 3 years experience in T&D cables maintenance and installation.
§ 2 – 3 years’ supervisory/man-management experience.
§ Project management experience.
§ Experience of working in a computerise maintenance environment, specifically involving the use of SAP or other computerised business management tools.
Corrective Maintenance:
§ Receive verbal information or notification -SAP - form Operations section that there is a breakdown or failure in the cable system in the YMAS area.
§ Raise request to Operations section for safety clearance – isolate the affected cable feeder and red tag it for maintenance.
§ Dispatch maintenance crew to site to trouble shoot the problem and start repairs as needed. Visit site to ensure that all safety procedures have been implemented and provide technical advice and support to the crew as may be needed.
Review final test and report that maintenance work has been completed, return safe clearance tag to Operations and coordinate with them to re-energize the system.
Preventive Maintenance:
Supervise performance of maintenance activities on power cables in accordance with predetermined preventive maintenance schedule. Provide guidance and technical advice and support to technicians carrying out the work ensuring strict implementation of safety procedures at all times.
Predictive Maintenance:
§ Develop schedule for inspecting and testing of the cable system to determine vulnerabilities, potential failure areas and modifications required for improving/rehabilitating the system.
Report results of such inspections and tests to Superintendent and seek approval for implementation.
Projects:
§ New Projects: Participate in witnessing final testing, commissioning and acceptance of new cable system project work.
Contract Work: Supervise and coordinate maintenance and installation work carried out by contractors to ensure they meet contractual specifications and standards.
Direction of Subordinates:
Organise and supervise the activities and work of a small team of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of Cable maintenance activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner.
Policies & Procedures:
Communicate the requirement of operational procedures and instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.
