The Position As a Design Manager you would primarily be reporting to the Project Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that all design work is properly coordinated with all concerned parties.
Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications and Training: Essential - Required minimum qualification include 5 – 10 years experience as a Associate Construction Manager, Field Engineer, Resident Engineer , Design draughts person , design coordinator
- Technical Certificate i.e. HND/C or equivalent
- Required minimum qualification includes 5 years experience as a design coordinator, design engineer
Preferred Degree in engineering / construction in applicable technical field or equivalent. Responsibilities will include: - Manage and coordinate the design/designs to interface with client’s, others requirements
- Liaise with other concerned parties representatives to agree final design in an expedient, professional manor which is within client’s budget
- Ensure design meets regulations local and general building guidelines
- Ensure design has been reviewed by all relevant parties , comments incorporated or if not advise as to why they haven’t
- Ensure design is issued to all parties
- To agree proposed design / construction programme is achievable
- To ensure design principles are followed on construction issue drawings / site
- To agree as builds achieve an acceptable standard
- To manage design coordinators, engineers CAD operatives and ensure quality of working principles are followed correctly
- Be familiar with the Middle East Policy and co-operate in its implementation at all times
- Carry out reasonable instructions, given by managers/supervisors
- Observe Q/HSE rules at all times
- Take reasonable care for their personal Q/HSE and that of fellow employees and anyone else who may be affected by acts or omissions, and co-operate with others in carrying out their duties
- Wear appropriate protective clothing and use equipment at all times as instructed
- Report all hazards, unsafe conditions and/or unsafe equipment to immediate supervisors
- Report all accidents, incidents and near misses whether or not they result in any injury or damage to immediate supervisors
- Ensure that the work place is kept clean and tidy and that escape routes are kept clear at all times
- Be aware of emergency procedures
- Work in accordance with control measures contained in the risk assessments that relate to work to be undertaken
- Never, under any circumstances, work in an unsafe manner. If you feel you have been asked to do so – don’t! Your health and safety is more important than any work activity
- Suggest safer methods of working and ensure the general public is not put at any risk
- Employees are reminded here, that a breach of Q/HSE procedures could possibly result in disciplinary action
- Take responsibility to familiarise your self with the risk assessments relevant to your work activities and implement the control measures identified
