| About the Role Reporting to the SVP - Commercial, this role supports the overall commercial activity for DP World on an enterprise basis as well as holds specific accountability for Asia Pacifc and Sub-Continent, with the primary focus on generating targeted business for our facilities.
The incumbent will be required to proactively develop compelling service offerings consistent with the business unit strategies, by building strong, profitable and long-term client relationships. They will be expected to manage clients, acting as a top level contact for our customers and must engage the organisations needed to deliver the products. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to manage and direct a productive multi-discipline team across global and functional boundaries; overseeing the sales and development functions for DP World by providing guidance to business units in the development of their sales action plans and assisting them in product development, while maintaining a focus as a strategic thinker. Key Accountability
- Identify and bring new business to the organisation through activities ranging from global to terminal and customer level.
- Provide direction for global sales efforts while enforcing standards of performance to ensure the consistency and quality of sales.
- Assist nominated business units with sales action plans as a mentor and ensure that appropriate accountability and steps are in place.
- Ensure commercial viability by assessing specific market development projects, providing feedback on global trends, carrier decisions, strategic issues and business development.
- Significant contribution to the strategic planning process.
- In conjunction with the local organisations, create regional sales, pricing and marketing strategies to maximise the return while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Provide value propositions for services rendered.
- Assist business units in developing opportunities to create value-added services.
- Negotiate large multi-year and multimillion dollar contracts with an attempt to standardise the boilerplate.
- Manage the implementation of all new business with focus on technology, cost reduction and automated processes.
- Input into strategic initiatives not limited to RFID, Security, E-Commerce, Training.
- Support the structuring of a sales reporting, recording and development process.
Education and Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a degree in a business discipline with 8 to 10 years experience working in sales and or commercial. On a periodic and need basis, the individual will be seconded to the operating unit to help with terminal development opportunities and to gain a breadth of understanding about our operating processes and philosophies on a various projects. Therefore, the role demands a well rounded professional with in-depth knowledge of the ports or liner industry and a specific understanding of commercial and operations, including technology, security, contracting, yield and marketing plan input. In addition, effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential as well as self motivation and a broad exposure to different cultures. |
