| Job Description |
- Responsible for the design office that consists of design and engineering, structural engineering, materials take off and production ordering.
- Receipt and review of project file, distribution of scope of work within the design office to the relevant Design Manager.
- Should ensure that design office work is planned & scheduled in line with the requirements of master project plan.
- Review the technical design development of each project with the individual Design Manager to ensure conformity with specifications, contractual requirements and budget allowable.
- Monitor project design value engineering to effect possible savings on budgets without any compromise on quality or system integrity.
- Review existing system design and identify & implement new and better ways of fabrication and installation, thereby reducing costs of products. Should also find new methodology in order to minimize new dies thereby reducing inventory stocks.
- Attend any design meetings, internal and external, as may be deemed necessary for the approval of design drawings and technical submittals.
- Ensure that Materials Technical Submittals are done in time.
- Ensure that raw materials are ordered on time and in bulk quantities so as to minimize repetitive orders or airfreight.
- Ensure that schedule for production drawings and for fabrication are prepared for all projects and is being effectively followed.
- Create and maintain a library of system products and its relevant dies.
- Co-operate with individual Senior Project Managers, who have functional responsibility for their projects inclusive of design and to garner their input for design development.
- Should review and identify the need for human resources within the department.
- Should review and evaluate the training needs of the staff and ensure those are being fulfilled.
- Evaluate the performance of the staff and review the incentive scheme from time to time.
- Ensure the department is strictly complying with the company system procedures.
