Job Description
Do you love working with big data? Developing highly scalable products and problem solving? This is your chance to work for a massively respected Silicon Valley company that is offering the opportunity to be a key hire in their United Arab Emirates team working in a startup environment, solving real world problems on a massive scale.
Comfortable in a role such as Lead or Senior Software Engineer, this a role that will give you something much more than a pure-coding role - you may be presenting to clients, driving product design, or solving algorithms. If you want to do the same thing every day with little impact then this is not the role for you.
The Data Scientist will need a degree (Masters or PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering. You should have superb programming skills ideally with object orientated and functional languages, e.g, Java, C++, Clojure, Erlang, Haskell, Scala. As a superb all round Software Engineer you should be comfortable with algorithms and data structures.
Experience as a Software Engineer developing distributed systems and working on large scale data analysis is ideal, as would be a strong background in areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, neural networks, data vizualisation or algorithmic trading. Big data technologies such as Hadoop, Lucene, NoSQL, MapReduce, Pig, or R.
Salaries are very competitive (£60,000-£80,000) for the right people although a key attraction for you is likely to be the chance to be involved at an early stage in their international expansion, work with some first class technical people, and profit from the growth of the company as a whole through equity options and superb benefits. This role will be based at my client's office in UAE and require flexibility on travel throughout the Middle East and potentially Europe.
Due to the nature of the work then candidates that hold UK or US Security Clearance would be ideal.
